OUR HISTORY

The History of the "Katofli" Tavern

The story of the "Katofli" tavern begins in 1989, when Mr. Giannis decided to make his dream come true. With experience from his childhood in cafes and later in taverns, he was now sure that hospitality and good food were his great love.

Thus, he created the village tavern "Katofli" in the marina of Kalamata, at a time when the area was not yet developed. The place was full of reedbeds, without roads or infrastructure, but Mr. Giannis had vision and faith. His tavern was the first to open there, paving the way for other businesses that followed. Initially, "Katofli" was a traditional small house that served local, village mezes.

The beginning was difficult. Mr. Yiannis and his wife, Mrs. Gogo, worked non-stop to build their business, while at the same time raising their son, Anastasis. Little Anastasis grew up in the tavern, absorbing his father's love and knowledge of cooking and hospitality.

Today, the business is managed by chef Yiannis Vlassis and his son, Anastasis Vlassis. With passion and attention to detail, they are constantly adding new recipes, raising the "Katofli" experience to another level. The excellent quality ingredients and fresh meats have turned the tavern into a haute cuisine restaurant, ranking it among the top meat gastronomy destinations.

"Katofli" remains an evolving family business, honoring tradition and combining it with modern culinary touches. We are waiting for you to taste our history!
